Spinney Lakes, River Nene & Ise

The ‘Spinney’ complex of lakes and rivers offers something for all angling disciplines.

The site is wild and only accessible via vehicle in dry conditions due to being a natural flood plane for the River’s Nene & Ise both flowing through the site.

Access is via the B571 and the access gates are to the right of the Anglian Water pumping station. The lock on the gate is the same as other club waters requiring the 10mm key.

In terms of species, there is a bit of everything! The site has a few very large but very elusive carp residing in the main lake. There have been reports of Carp caught from what is known as the ‘Ise lake’ in the past. This is a former gravel pit that the River Ise flows through before joining the Nene. The Ise lake is also known to produce large Bream & silvers as well.

The site is owned & managed by Natural England and managed as a SSSI site. The main species being protected on the site are wading birds which is why there is a preference for no tree cover so the habitat suites the targeted bird life.

The club has been granted exclusive access for angling but due to the strong conservation in place, please make sure you have read all of the specific rules within your membership before planning a trip to the site to fish.

The main lake is only open to angling from the 1st March to October 31st annually.
